Southern Cross Primary Care (SCPC) is partnering with selected general practices throughout New Zealand, making sizeable capital investments in practices that are motivated to work with SCPC to shape the future of primary care.

SCPC is working with several leading, progressive practices to form a national network of SCPC-affiliated primary health care providers.  Silverdale and Queenstown were the first to join (read more about them below) while Taradale Medical Centre (Hawke's Bay), CAREfirst (Taranaki) and Upper Hutt Health Centre are also coming aboard.

Silverdale Medical

Silverdale Medical is a high quality, integrated healthcare facility, whose doctors, nurses and allied health professionals provide a wide variety of medical services to patients in the Rodney District and further afield.

Silverdale Medical’s Dr Warren Groarke says the long term objective of its partnership with SCPC is to increase the role general practice has within the Rodney District and New Zealand health sector, to help ensure New Zealanders have access to quality and better value for money primary healthcare services.

Queenstown Medical Centre

Queenstown Medical Centre (QMC) is Queenstown’s leading general practice with three surgery locations – Isle St, Remarkables Park and Arrowtown.

QMC was one of the first practices SCPC talked to about the development of the Southern Cross-branded GP network. It has made a huge contribution to the SCPC approach, based on finding ways to combine the great ideas of practitioners with Southern Cross resources to establish a collaborative network.

QMC Chief Executive Officer, Richard Macharg, says QMC is excited about being part of a national network of progressive general practices whose aim is to improve the range, quality and accessibility of primary health care for all New Zealanders.
