About us
Southern Cross Primary Care (SCPC) is an independent business set up within the Southern Cross Healthcare Group. It is partnering with general practitioners who want to help shape the future of primary care.
SCPC is working with a fast-growing group of large, progressive practices to form a national network of like-minded, SCPC-affiliated, primary health care providers.
This is not corporatisation. It's collaboration to explore new ideas and opportunities to improve clinical and business models. It's the combination of the strength and capabilities of the Southern Cross Healthcare Group, with the ideas and expertise of some of New Zealand's most progressive general practices
.
Southern Cross Healthcare Group
Southern Cross Healthcare Group is the largest non-government organisation in the New Zealand health sector. It encompasses independent businesses that share a common brand, a not-for-profit philosophy, and a commitment to better value healthcare for New Zealanders.
The Southern Cross Healthcare Group's decision to establish a primary care business recognises general practice's pivotal role in achieving the best possible, and most cost-effective, health outcomes for New Zealanders.
To that end, SCPC has been established as a limited liability company under the ownership of the Southern Cross Health Trust - a charitable trust registered with the Charities Commission which also owns the Southern Cross Hospitals and Southern Cross Travel Insurance businesses.
